During severe winter weather and bitter cold nights, St. John’s Parish Hall transforms into an emergency homeless shelter. St. John’s participates in Winter Outreach, a network of churches and other organizations in St. Louis that collaborate to activate emergency pop-up shelters for the homeless during the coldest nights of the Winter months.
Our program provides a hot meal and a warm place to sleep for 10 guests. We activate on Friday nights when the weather dips below 25 degrees, or there is severe winter weather.
Those interested in getting involved can join the Activation Team. There are many ways to be of service -- from meal preparation and shelter setup to volunteering as overnight innkeepers or on the laundry team.
