Children's Christian Formation
Children at Worship
We believe that it is important to include our children in worship. We invite our children to join the broader community to share the Exchange of the Peace and participate in Eucharist (communion). Parents usually bring their children from the Godly Play classroom and/or Nursery during Announcements. Of course, children are always welcome to remain in the entire service with their parents or guardians. We have coloring materials, rocking chairs, and a pack n play available in the Main Church.
Learning Together (for Children)
The children's classrooms are located along the passageway behind the altar and can be accessed from the hallway behind the pulpit or from the Parish Hall. All childcare staff and volunteers are screened and trained in child safety, and access to the children is carefully monitored.
Our "Sunday School" is Godly Play - a Montessori-style curriculum for children 3 years old and up. The lessons are designed to teach liturgy and Bible stories in a way that enhances the child's authentic experience of God. There are now TWO Godly Play Classes!
- Children ages 6-12 may attend Godly Play at 9:40 am.
- Children ages 3-5 may attend Godly Play at 10:30 am. A children's procession leaves the main church after the Opening Hymn for the Godly Play Room. Children join the rest of the congregation for the Exchange of the Peace and Communion.

Professionally-staffed child care is available on Sundays from September through May from 9:00 am to noon on Sundays - 9:00 – 10:30 am for all children. The Nursery is now located adjacent to the Main Church, in the former Godly Play room. From 10:30 am -12:00 noon (during the 10:30 am service), the Nursery is primarily intended for children under 5 years old (pre-school age) and children with special needs. As long as space is available (fewer than 8 kids with 2 childcare providers), older children who do not wish to attend Godly Play or the 10:30 am service may also stay in the Nursery. We ask that children refrain from using ipads and other technology in the Nursery. Suggestions and donations for activities are welcome. Please contact Gina Malone at ginamalone23 (at) gmail (dot) com.
In the summer months, professionally-staffed child care is available on Sundays from 10:00 am to 12 noon.
